1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. Your password is encrypted and is not visible to us.
• User Content (Your Dreams): We collect and store the content you create, including your dream entries, titles, tags, AI analysis results, and any other metadata you add ("Dream Data"). This data is the core of your experience and is treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
• AI Interaction Data: We store the inputs you provide to our AI features (like descriptions for visualization or analysis) and the outputs generated by the AI. This includes generated images, videos, soundscapes, and text analyses.
• Usage Data: We may collect data on how you interact with our app, such as features used and session duration, to help us improve our services. This data is aggregated and anonymized.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To Provide and Maintain the Service: Your Account Information and Dream Data are used to operate your personal dream journal, sync your data across devices, and enable the app's core features.
• To Power AI Features: When you use an AI-powered feature (e.g., Analysis, Visualization, Enrichment), we send the relevant data from your dream entry (like the content or title) to a third-party AI model provider (such as Google AI) via their API. The sole purpose of this is to generate the requested output (e.g., an interpretation or an image). We do not permit these providers to use your data to train their models or for any other purpose.
• To Improve Our Services: We analyze anonymized usage data to understand which features are most popular and how we can enhance the user experience.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your privacy and data security are paramount.

• Secure Cloud Storage: All of your personal data, including your full dream journal entries, is stored in a secure Firebase/Google Cloud database.
• Strict Access Control: We use robust Firebase Security Rules that enforce a strict policy: a user can ONLY access their own data. Your dream journal is not accessible by any other user, and our access is limited to what is necessary for database maintenance and support, governed by strict privacy protocols.
• Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (using TLS) and at rest on the server.

4. The Non-Ordinary Reality Database (NORD)

One of the core missions of NightKit is to support scientific research into consciousness through the Non-Ordinary Reality Database (NORD). Your participation is entirely voluntary.

• Explicit, Granular Consent: You will NEVER be opted-in to NORD by default. For any dream entry, you can choose to contribute it by explicitly checking a consent box (e.g., "Contribute to NORD"). You can revoke this consent at any time.
• Anonymization Process: If you consent to contribute a dream, we run it through an automated process that strips out all personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, specific locations, and dates. The anonymized data, containing only thematic and symbolic information, is then added to the NORD dataset.
• Data Separation: The anonymized data in NORD is structurally separated from your personal user account and cannot be linked back to you.

5. Your Data Rights

You are in control of your data.

• Access and Edit: You can access and edit your Dream Data at any time through the application.
• Deletion: You can delete individual dream entries or your entire account at any time. When you delete your account, all of your personal data is permanently removed from our primary databases.

6. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
